This robot-looking bridge in Leeuwarden, Netherlands is known as the Slauerhoffbrug. The giant cantilevered arm is not dissimilar from a typical revolute coordinate robot found in a factory pick-and-place operation. It's an elegant and inspiring solution to the problem of space and access constraints. The hydraulic-powered bridge was built in 2000 and sports the colors of blue and yellow to complement features of the nearby city. The Slauerhoffbrug is a wonderful example of form and function living together in a peaceful way, and all while providing the driving robot enthusiast a reason to speed home and break out the LEGOs.
