For the most part, the development of humanoid robots is firmly in the grip of Japan and South Korea. In the latest episode of the Robots podcast we speak to one of the few European contenders in this field. Davide Faconti is the leader of the REEM project sponsored by PAL Technology out of the United Arab Emirates but based in an office in Barcelona, Spain. Davide gives us an overview of his team's development of the REEM-A and the REEM-B (left robot in the picture). We then speak to Jun Ho Oh, director of the HUBO Lab, Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and chairman of the last IEEE-RAS International Conference on Humanoid Robots (Humanoids08). He speaks about his development of the HUBO humanoid (right robot in the picture) and gives us a snapshot view on the state-of-the-art in humanoid robotics. Listen in!
