tBot Maintains a Delicate Balance

A Bucknell University news release describes a recent demonstration of the school's robots for a visiting Congressman who helped secure federal funding for the universities unmanned ground vehicle program. Among the robots demonstrated was the very cool tBot, a robot which can roll on the ground using all four of its wheels. Nothing unusual there. But tBot can also use its two front arms to lift itself off the ground and stand on its two rear wheels, becoming a two-wheeled gyroscopic balancing robot. That's a pretty good trick. Surprisingly, video of tBot hasn't made its way on to YouTube yet but you can find some video of the robot in old-timey proprietary formats like Quicktime at the IHMC robot media page and also on the tBot video page at The University of Queensland.
