Student-Designed Robots Play Soccer

The picture shows this year’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Breakaway match. Basically teams of high school students build robots to compete in a game of soccer. The kids have six weeks to build a robot that can compete in the game. Should they build an advanced killing machine in that time, it’s just a bonus.

The robots have to be able to handle bumps or go through tunnels, guard nets and kick soccer balls into their opposing teams nets. Amazing stuff. These kids do great work
