Bill Stone’s DepthX robot, which has been designed especially to explore one of the Jupiter’s moons named Europa, has fruitfully passed its very first test in Mexico’s La Pilita underwater cave. The DepthX robot dived about 300-feet into the cave system and gathered samples, shot images, and formed a 3D map of the region.

DepthX has yet to undergo some more tests with one to he held next month, followed by the toughest test of diving to more than 1,000 feet into the Zacaton, the world’s deepest sinkhole.
