Let the idea showcased in the Matrix, Terminators and the like remain on the celluloid, apparently, we are all aware of the truth that these machines will never rule us, rather we will never allow them to do so, especially when the trigger is under our fingers. For now, keeping aside the so-called ‘Three Laws of Robotics’, which too are devised by us, we are continuously churning out more and more machines to rule the world around us ‘our way’.
The new sibling of the coterie is this innovative walling-climbing robot inspired by Spiderman. The ‘City Climber’ rover, developed by Jizhong Xiao and his team, conquers vertical limits via a vacuum chamber and surveys buildings and war zones with perfection. The rover will successfully cut whopping costs of mandatory manual inspection of building that costs about $5,000 per day and will save time too.
The gravity defying feats of the City Climber owes to its sticky feet, suction cups, claws, and magnets that allow it to climb almost any surface.
