This year’s international RoboCup kicks off from 14-20 June 2006 in Bremen, Germany. The championship is an innovative step to create androids that can beat their human counterparts as early as year 2050 and give fillip to the RoboCupRescue project to assist effectively in case of large scale disasters. This year’s RoboCup will see 350 teams from 40 nations around the globe vying for the title of best soccer-playing robots.

The two Sony Qrio robots, dubbed as Sango and Ami and hooked on with game management programs, will act as commentators for the RoboCup matches screaming - “GOOOOOOAL!, pumping their arms to celebrate a goal and doing sideline dances to entertain the crowd.
