Joshua v0.1.3a, latest software package for the autonomous chess-playing robot, is out. The latest software package runs on a computer to control the robot’s stepper motors that maneuvers a manipulator for all chess moves.
Joshua may not compete with the Deep Blue or even Kasparov, but can at least engage humans or play with itself by manipulating the position of chess pieces via a photosensitive chessboard and the software. The sensitive GTK-based GUI interface of the software is compatible with Linux. Joshua is Free Software licensed under the GNU GPL.
